The objective of the SME Lean Thinking Master Black Belt is to develop lean leadership that will champion the status quo, offer guidance, and ensure that lean thinking is being used to optimize their Lean Management System.
Developing lean leadership requires a shift in mindset, from that of traditional management tactics that rely on centralized decision making and micromanagement, to that of a teacher and coach where the focus is on continuous improvement and the development of lean leaders.
Implementing lean leadership requires a heavy emphasis on cultural change. To accomplish this lean leader must lead by example, ensuring that lean thinking is being applied with the right goals and objectives, to sustainably deliver value to the customer. To grow, each person that you are leading needs to feel challenged by their work, in order to look for better ways of doing it.
Making the shift to lean leadership allows lean leaders to build sustainable, healthy companies on a foundation of respect for people, learning, and continuous improvement. This approach allows lean leaders to become lean champions, leaving a legacy of learning, growing, and empowering people to do their best, while producing products and services that provide maximum value to their customers.
